Experience Scotland’s Ultimate Castle & Whisky Pairing

Welcome to Highland Private Journey. When your cruise ship arrives at the port of Invergordon, you are perfectly positioned to explore the breathtaking Northern Highlands. Why settle for a generic, crowded bus tour when you can experience the best of Scotland in private luxury?

Our Exclusive North Tour is specially designed for cruise passengers who want to experience the magic of a fairytale Highland castle and the warmth of a world-class single malt Scotch whisky. Discover the magnificent Dunrobin Castle and the legendary Glenmorangie Distillery with your own private driver-guide, all while enjoying the absolute peace of mind that you will return to your ship with time to spare.

Your Highland Shore Excursion: The Itinerary

The Scenic Drive North

Your adventure begins the moment you step off your cruise ship. Your private guide will greet you at the port gates, and within minutes, you’ll be relaxing in our premium vehicle. We head north along the beautiful coastal routes of the Easter Ross peninsula, tracing the shores of the Cromarty and Dornoch Firths. Your guide will bring the landscape to life with fascinating tales of Highland clans, Viking history, and local folklore.

Dunrobin Castle & Gardens

Our first major stop is the breathtaking Dunrobin Castle. As the ancestral home of the Earls of Sutherland, it is the largest and most spectacular house in the Northern Highlands. With its French-inspired architecture, it looks like it was plucked straight from a fairytale.

You can choose to wander through the opulent interior rooms or take a stroll through the magnificent, Versailles-inspired gardens stretching down to the sea. If the timing is right, you will also be treated to the castle’s world-class, daily falconry display!

Glenmorangie Distillery: The Men of Tain

Heading back south toward your ship, we stop at the historic Royal Burgh of Tain to visit the world-famous Glenmorangie Distillery. Nestled on the peaceful banks of the Dornoch Firth, this distillery has been producing its delicate, complex single malt since 1843.

Marvel at their legendary copper pot stills—the tallest in Scotland—and take the opportunity to enjoy a premium tasting flight in their beautiful tasting room. Enjoy every drop safely, knowing your private, designated driver is ready to whisk you comfortably back to port.

Tour's Location

Is 4 hours enough time to see both Dunrobin Castle and Glenmorangie?

A 4-hour base tour gives us just enough time to drive the scenic route, enjoy the exterior/gardens at Dunrobin, and stop at the Glenmorangie visitor center for a quick tasting and shopping. However, if you want to take a full guided tour inside the distillery (which takes about an hour) or explore the inside of the castle at a leisurely pace, we strongly advise using our £60/hour extension option to make it a 5 or 6-hour day!

Will we make it back to the cruise ship on time?

Yes, absolutely. We monitor your ship’s "all aboard" schedule meticulously. As local experts who operate out of Invergordon regularly, we guarantee you will be back at the port with plenty of time to spare.

How does the £60 per hour extension work?

When booking, you can request to extend your 4-hour base tour by 1 or 2 hours. This is charged at a simple flat rate of £60 per hour. It’s a fantastic, cost-effective way to transform a quick sightseeing trip into a relaxed, deeply immersive Highland experience.

Do we need to book our distillery and castle tickets in advance?

Yes. While entrance fees are not included in the tour price to give you flexibility, we highly recommend booking your Glenmorangie tasting or tour tickets online prior to your arrival, as they sell out fast on cruise ship days. Dunrobin Castle tickets can usually be purchased on the day.

How do we find you when we disembark?

It couldn't be easier! When you walk off the ship and through the main Invergordon port gates, your private driver will be standing right there holding a welcome board with your name on it. No shuttles, no waiting around.
